Adrian Peterson Like My Father & Grandfather

#TexasNewsBlog #TexasNews #AdrianPeterson

It should come as no surprise to anyone how much things have changed over the past 50-years. When I was young, it was not uncommon for my father to give me a good spanking when I was bad. His father, my grandfather, did the same thing to him when he was a kid. However – the rules when it comes to corporal punishment have changed drastically over the years – to the point now when it is hardly ever allowed for a parent to strike their child under any circumstances. One may argue whether or not this new way of parenting is better or worse than the old way – but it's a fact that as a parent you will likely end up under arrest – if you use corporal punishment in disciplining your child. 50-years ago if a boy showed up at school with bruises and a black eye and told a teacher that his father did that to him – the teacher and police would just assume that the kid had messed up and had that beating coming to him. However - if that same thing happened today – the child would be taken away from his parents by CPS and the father would be spending time in jail. More than likely Adrian Peterson was only following his own experiences as a child when he disciplined his own son with such force that marks were left on the child's body. This world is constantly changing and whether we agree with those changes or not – we must obey the law and today the U.S. legal system is very clear that corporal punishment is not allowed anymore.
