Joshua Steven Durcho Arrest Near Waco In Hamilton For Oklahoma Murders

A 25 year old man was arrested after a traffic stop in the town of Hamilton near Waco yesterday. When police ran a criminal check on the man, Joshua Steven Durcho, they discovered that he was wanted by police in Oklahoma for the murder of five people there.

Joshua Steven Durcho allegedly murdered 25 year old Summer Rust and her four children before fleeing to Central Texas. Durcho is expected to be sent back to Oklahoma today where he will face multiple counts of murder.

Sometimes it is amazing and scary when a police officer pulls over someone for a minor traffic violation. That person could just be someone who is speeding because they are late for an event or like which was the case here - the person is wanted for multiple murders in the neighboring State of Oklahoma.

Lady Bears Of Baylor Defeat Buffaloes Of Colorado 63-50 In Saturday Night Game

It's always nice for me when the Lady Bears of Baylor University win, but when they defeat another Big 12 team - that victory is much more sweet. Last night, the ladies of Baylor University took down the Buffaloes of Colorado by a score of 63-50.

Ever since Kim Mulkey came to Waco to take over the women's basketball program, the residents of Central Texas along with hundreds of thousands of Baylor Alumni have rushed to support the winning teams that Coach Mulkey has brought to Waco.

Who could forget that out of this world national championship game in Indiana only a few short years ago when the Lady Bears of Baylor won and brought back to Waco that national championship trophy. My hope is for another national championship again soon for the Lady Bears of Baylor, but I also know that now the secret is out of the bag about how well Coach Mulkey runs her teams, so now every team is prepared when the Lady Bears come to town.

Clint Eastwood's Movie 'Grand Torino' Sold Out At Waco Theater Today

My wife and I decided this morning that we wanted to go see the new Clint Eastwood movie called 'Grand Torino' this afternoon, so we ate a late lunch and then headed out to the Waco Starplex Theater to watch this new movie from one of our favorite stars. After waiting in line for about five minutes, we were told when we got the the ticket booth that the 4pm showing of 'Grand Torino' was sold out.

While we were disappointed, we will see Clint Eastwood in his new movie soon enough. However, I thought to myself, as we were walking back to our car, how amazing it is that an older star like Clint Eastwood is still in such high demand at the movie box office.

Tomorrow afternoon, we will try again to get tickets to 'Grand Torino' staring Clint Eastwood - but next time we will try earlier in the day. I still remember when I was a young man enjoying the old classic western movies of Clint Eastwood and it seems that has popularity has grown even bigger as the years have gone by.

Gun Sales In Waco Reach Record Levels Before Obama Takes Office

In recent stories in the Waco Tribune Herald and on local television, there have been reports of huge increases in the number for gun sales in the area since Barack Obama was elected as the next President of the United States. While some worry that Obama will restrict gun sales, I believe some people are just flat scared about their personal safety as major crimes increase in the Waco area.

Almost everyday, the citizens of Waco wake up to news of robberies, shootings and even murders that occurred the night before.. During the Christmas holiday of 2008, there were big increases in the number of robberies and home invasion in all parts of Waco.

While it is true that concerns about a liberal Barack Obama administration could be the leading cause of increase gun sales in Waco, the second reason why gun sales are increasing is because the streets of our hometown are not as safe as they once were.

Two Arrests Made in Waco Involving Capital Murder/Carjacking

Clifton Yudell Dobbins and a Waco juvenile were arrested yesterday on charges ranging from carjacking to capital murder. At this time, only the juvenile has been charged with the higher offence of capital murder.

The capital murder charge was filed in connection with the shooting a few days ago of Gregory Lewis of Waco, who was shot multiple times and found near death by police. Lewis later died at Hillcrest Hospital.

These latest arrest are good news for residents of Waco who have seen an increase gun crimes recently. In addition to murder and carjacking increases, Waco citizen have also witnessed an dramatic increase in the number of robberies and home invasions since the economy started to slump six months ago.

Gregory Lewis Found Shot At 9th/Bosque In Waco, Dies Later At Hillcrest Hospital

Last night, a Waco man was found shot in the 800 block of North 9th street. When police and EMS arrived on the scene they found Gregory Lewis alive, but not responsive to their questions.

Mr. Lewis later died at Hillcrest Medical Center. Police say the investigation into this shooting, which lead to the death of Gregory Lewis, is currently under investigation.

Over the past several months, there seems to have been an increase in gun crimes in Waco. Fortunately, most of them have involved robberies where no shots were fired. However, in this case not only was a gun discharged - but a local man lost his life, as well.

Pitbull Dogs Are Becoming An Increase Problem In Waco Neighborhoods

Less than a week ago, a Waco police officer was forced to draw his gun and shot at an attacking Pitbull dog. Then today, another Waco police officer shot and killed a Pitbull that had a man trapped on the top of his car.

I know there are many Pitbull dog lovers in Waco, but I also believe that some people do not realize how dangerous their dogs can be to others. Some cities have outlawed the ownership of Pitbull dog in their city limits and I'm wondering if Waco will be that far behind them.

A police officer told me once that criminals that run crack houses make a habit of surrounding those residents with Pitbull dogs as a way to both warning them if the police are approaching and also as a first line of defense to protect their drug houses from rival drug dealers. I look for new Pitbull laws to be passed in Waco this year. While an outright ban is not likely - I would not completely rule it out, either.

Casa De Castillo Restaurant Offers Waco Residents Great Food & Excellent Service

On New Years Eve, while almost everyone else in Waco was attending parties to welcome in 2009 - my wife and I visited one of our favorite restaurants in Waco called Casa De Castillo. We have visited there on a regular basis since our marriage 20 years ago.

For generations, Casa De Castillo has offered the best in Mexican Food dinning in Waco and more importantly, to me, real Texas service when we go there to eat. Unlike most Mexican Food Restaurants in Waco, at Casa De Castillo we know most of the waiters by name and the owners always come out to greet us like we are just another member of their family.

Over the past five or ten years, national Mexican Food Restaurant chains have opened in and around Waco, but in my opinion none of them compare to Casa De Castillo because of one word, 'customer service'. It's is far easier to cook great Mexican Food than it is to provide a pleasant dinning experience. At Casa De Castillo you get both.

Viacom/Time Warner Cable Reach Deal Just In Time For Waco/Central Texas Residents

For the second time in as many years, there has been a big time battle that has brewed between Time Warner Cable and cable networks that provide programming to them. Last year, Waco residents along with millions of other people around the USA found it impossible to watch some Dallas Cowboys' football games on Time Warner Cable because the 'NFL Network' and 'Time Warner Cable' could not reach an agreement.

Then recently, residents of Waco learned that there was another programming dispute between Time Warner Cable and Viacom. While Viacom is not a household name, their programming is very widely watch in Waco and around the rest of the country as well.

Today, I am pleased to announce that Time Warner Cable and Viacom have reached an agreement which will allow all of Viacom's cable channels to be viewed into the future in the Waco area on Time Warner Cable. It must be difficult for the Waco Time Warner Cable operation when these types of nationwide disputes occur, because the resident of Waco are fortunate to have a choice when it comes to cable television in a company called Grande Communications.
