Who Will Replace June Jones As SMU Head Coach?

#TexasNewsBlog #TexasNews #TexasBlog

Even the best of coaches sometimes don't measure up to the highly competitive arena of college football these days and the latest one to fall victim to a bad win/loss record is SMU head coach June Jones. I still remember how embarrassed I felt for Coach Jones and his entire team when they traveled to Waco to play Baylor in the opening game of McLane Stadium in late August. To say that was a long night for June Jones, would be an understatement. Things did not get much better in week two when they played North Texas. After Coach Jones announced his immediate retirement on Monday, attention immediately change to who will replace him as the head coach of the SMU Mustangs? Tom Mason, the current defensive coordinator, will take over in the short term and will likely be coaching the team in their next game against Texas A&M on September 20th. On the short list of potential permanent successors to Jones are: Louisiana-Lafayette's Mark Hudspeth, Tom Herman from Ohio State and Chad Morris from Clemson.
